My background in tropical fish extends over the past 25
years, although it is only in recent years that I have
accelerated my interest. Being qualified in the geological
and environmental sciences, my passion centres around
sustaining aquariums with aqua scapes that as closely
resemble natural settings as is possible. My pet hate is
“intensified” breeding set-ups, where fish have limited swim
space, concrete (or the like) decor and no substrate. I also
find the practice of indiscriminate breeding deplorable and
hope to educate people in the field of selective breeding
for better quality fish.
Currently I run a shared aquarium manufacturing business from home and maintain approximately 60 aquariums. The species currently in my care encompass many groups from all over the cichlid world. Unlike many, I do not have a partiality for any certain region or biotope (admittedly I do have a soft spot for the gentle giants…and anything yellow!). I also have a passion for clown loaches with different markings and make a point to seek them out at local aquarium shops.
I enjoy all things “nature”….along with gardening, fishing, photography, sports, cats and dogs. Unable to sit still for long periods, there is always something on the burner. Some might say that I am an “ideas person”…unfortunately cash is always the limiting factor. Now, off to work on my next cunning plan…
