David Midgley has been involved with the cichlid keeping hobby for many years. His interests, in cichlids, are in the breeding of lamprologine cichlids from Lake Tanganyika (excluding the two more specialist genera Altolamprologus and Lepidiolamprologus). Past tanks have been stocked with fishes from the genus Julidochromis and its close relatives, although shell-dwelling cichlids were also kept.
David Midgley is a PhD in molecular ecology from the University of Western Sydney. He is currently involved in soil microbial ecology at the University of Sydney, where he works as a postdoctoral fellow.
